Two years ago while in Nova Scotia, Lorraine LeBlanc from NB, a frequent visitor to the Western Shore and a fan of The Curse of Oak Island, approached me asking if I would be interested in doing an Oak Island convention. I told her that I had thought about it a few times but I wasn't sure if something like that would be of interest to the other fans of the popular reality TV show. Then last year while Christina and I were in Mahone Bay at the Mug n Anchor sitting with some of the cast of the show, I asked each of them if they would be interested in speaking at such an event. I was surprised that every single one said they would love to.

Since that time we have worked to try and make this happen. The biggest hurdle to all of this was how to handle the ticket sales. As it turns out, Lorraine is a friend of Tony Sampson and through his site, Salty Dog Sea Tours, it all came together. He would handle the ticket sales and include his famous sea tours as part of the convention package.

I can tell you that it has been a lot of work to organize all of this but after several meetings and many phone calls, we are ready. I am happy that we are able to put this event together and make it happen. I just hope that there will be some interest with the fans of the show. Enough to sell at least thirty tickets. What do you think? Can we get that many attendees?

Only thirty you say? Yes, well actually we have the cut off at forty-eight. Thirty is our break point. We need at least thirty to make it happen. See, we decided to keep this one small. Using the Western Shore Legion hall, which sits across the street from the Oak Island Resort for this event, does limit us with attendance but we thought that for this first year small is good to work out the details and kinks for a much bigger event in 2026.

For this first year, we are limiting the presentations to cast members of The Curse of Oak Island. Oh and we simply couldn't leave out Mr. Oak Island himself, Danny Hennigar. I mean he is the man who started the Oak Island Gathering and Island Tours many years ago before Rick and Marty Lagina were involved. I know there are many theorists and authors we would all love to hear from. Let's keep them in planning for OakIslandCon 2026!

As I mentioned, Salty Dog Sea Tours is going to be part of this event package. The event cost is $150.00 Canadian for both days. This gets you to all the presentations and meet-n-greets as well as one of the Sea Tours. The will be two sets of boats heading out on Mahone Bay. When you book, just pick one of the two times, 9 am or 11 am. If the one you choose is full, try the other time. Once both are full, that's it.

Part of this will also be free admittance to the Oak Island Experience put together by Danny Hennigar and located at the Old Chester Train Station. Now called the Chester Municipal Heritage Society Station, 37 Smith Rd, Chester, NS B0J 1J0, Canada

We hope you can join us for this first year event. It really should be a blast and I love meeting other fans of The Curse of Oak Island.

Be sure to check back here often because I will be posting some of the local accommodations to the area as well as other details as other things may get added.

Here are the event details:
